The Pocket Psychologist is a mobile App designed to empower users with a range of psychological tools and techniques to help optimise professional and personal life. The App’s easy-to-use, short video coaching sessions provide immediate access to psychological insights designed to address key psychological themes and challenges.
The concept of eminent Psychologist Dr Jo Perkins, we were appointed to design, develop and brand the App, along with producing the video content and imagery. Built with Flutter, the app leverages a single code base to efficiently deliver a seamless experience on both iOS and Android platforms. This approach drastically reduced development time and maintenance costs while ensuring consistent performance and user interface across devices.
The app’s backend uses Directus, an open-source CMS and data platform, as its content manager and API layer. It integrates smoothly with Flutter via REST endpoints and offers robust data modeling. Directus’s standout feature is its permissions matrix, enabling granular control over user roles, access, and data visibility, ensuring security and precise content management. Combined with Flutter, it provides a scalable and efficient solution for modern mobile apps.
