At the intersection of neuroscience and the arts, the Neuroarts Resource Center, is a partnership between the Aspen Institute and Johns Hopkins University. Our work commenced by conducting a series of focus groups to understand the needs of diverse stakeholder groups.
Guided by this feedback, we developed a comprehensive set of wireframes that shaped the website’s design direction and user journey. We then built a fully custom web application using Next.js and Strapi, delivering a fast, SEO-optimized experience paired with flexible content management.
The platform includes advanced Elasticsearch integration, allowing precise filtering by topic, tag, and content type. A curated and user-generated tagging system ensures intuitive discovery. Users can follow others, save resources into collections, and interact through comments and notifications—supported by a clean, accessible UI designed with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui.
In addition to full website support, we produced an animated video showcasing the platform’s features, along with a suite of social media assets to support its launch and promotion.
This project is a strong example of how strategic, custom digital infrastructure can support an emerging field. By blending modern technologies with user-centered design, we helped the Neuroarts Resource Center create more than a website—it’s a vibrant, interactive platform for connection, discovery, and collaboration.
